The Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival features an outstanding faculty of artists and teachers who guide gifted high school and college students from around the country through a month of intensive musical study and performance.

Open to students of all faiths, the Academy & Festival is committed to strengthening and expanding the Church's heritage of excellence in music.
Lutheran Music Program, Inc. is enormously grateful for the financial support of the Gloria Dei Foundation. This grant provided much-needed scholarship funds for students to attend the 2007 Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival (LSM). LSM is the pinnacle program of our organization and annually brings together 125 to 150 young people from throughout the United States for rigorous musical study and performance in a supportive environment.
Founded in the strong musical traditions of the Lutheran Church, LSM provides an artistic home for high school students of all faith backgrounds, ethnicities and economic circumstances. The audition-based program convenes students for a four-week, residential program on a different college campus each year. The 2007 LSM Academy and Festival is held at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. Students take daily individual instrument lessons with world-class music education faculty; participate in small classical, jazz or early music ensembles; play in a full orchestra, choir or band; attend daily recitals by faculty; visit world-class arts organizations; and perform in final Festival concerts for an audience of family, friends, peers and local community members.
Scholarships and financial aid are crucial to making LSM accessible to all: nearly 80% of students receive financial aid. The base tuition for all our LSM students represents only half the total per-student cost of the program, yet the fee still remains prohibitive for many families. By helping to further reduce tuition, the Gloria Dei Foundation makes our comprehensive, faith-affirming program accessible to students of all economic backgrounds.
